The past
Place Macpherson was originally built in 1886, as a hotel called Shefford House. In those days, most guests travelled to Quebec’s Eastern Townships by train and took a stagecoach from the West Shefford train station (on today’s Gaspé Street) to the hotel.

A major extension was added to the original structure in 1986, more than doubling its size. It continued as a hotel under a variety of names and ownership until 2006, when it was turned into a seniors’ residence.

The present
In late 2007, the building was purchased by partners who were born and bred just down the street in Bromont. The new owners have renovated the landmark building to retain the historical aspects of the façade and maintain its stature in the community.
